Permission to access EOS folder from client installed on a PC inside CERN network

Hello,

I am afraid that I am missing something and my question is very silly, but I really cannot find any information on this.

We have a PC inside CERN network where we would like to mount our /eos/experiment/name environment.

I have followed these instructions:

https://cern.service-now.com/service-portal?id=kb_article&n=KB0003846

which should work for AlmaLinux 9.

I got some errors while installing the packages, which I “solved” by specifying the “–nobest” option. As written in the guide, I have copied the “experiment” configuration files from lxplus, just removing the “app:lxplus” string from them. When I start autofs I can see all folders under the “experiment” directory but obviously I have no permission to access them.

As a user, if I log in to lxplus, I can access to our experiment directory “/eos/experiment/name”. The question is: how can I grant the permission to access to this directory from this PC?

Thanks!

Hi Eugenio,

Please open a Service Now ticket (at CERN) for the corresponding eos instance that you are trying to access with your local mount. The ticket will then be handled but the person on rota who can better guide you concerning your issue.

Cheers,
Elvin

Thank you, I will follow your suggestion!
