MGM/FST XRootD config directives

Hello,

Apologies for this kind of simple questions. We are setting up an EOSCTA instance and we are trying to understand both EOS and CTA.

Can you please explain very briefly what is the meaning of the “mgmofs.broker” and
“fstofs.broker” directives in /etc/xrd.cf.mgm and /etc/xrd.cf.fst respectively?

They seem to be related with the EOS_BROKER_URL var which, again, I am not sure what it represents.

Many thanks,

George

Hi George,
we run a service for asynchronous messaging which is called MQ. It normally runs on an MGM on port 1097. fstofs.broker is the configuration variable telling an FST to where to connect for asynchronous messaging. mgmofs.broker is the variable for an MGM service to where to connect for asynchronous messaging. Cheers Andreas.

Hi Andreas,

Great, many thanks for your very clear reply!

Best,

George
