HI! Does anyone have some experience with increasing draining speed of a fs?
The destination fs’s are not used (have deny placement) and they are 7 (i’m draining 1 fs to 7) and i would expect to have quite some speed .. but 100 TB fs, drained only about 20% in 3 days ..
Hi Adrian,
The first thing that you might want to look at is the number of threads in pool for drainings. This you can see by looking at the output of eos ns. You can increase it by doing eos ns drain set max-thread-pool-size 2500.
There are also other thing you can check depending on what you are actually draining. If all file systems that you are draining are from the same machine then you will be limited by the BW of that particular node. You can look at the output of eos node ls –io or eos fs ls –io to understand if there is any bottleneck.
In general, draining should be quite fast since it tries to drain file from other source so the drained file system is not the bottleneck - except in the case when you have just one replica (which I believe it’s your case).
Cheers,
Elvin
